Pattern formation during early embryogenesis of vertebrates

The Schoenwolf laboratory addresses the general question of how intercellular and intracellular signaling results in the generation of pattern during vertebrate embryogenesis. Although we work on a number of diverse organ rudiments and developmental events using multiple experimental organisms, our current work focuses on normal and abnormal development of the ear. This work is relevant for understanding birth defects, cancer, aging and regeneration.
